How To Make Fig Newtons Crumble Bars Recipe
A delicious twist on the classic Fig Newton, with a crumbly crust and a sweet fig filling.

Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 cup fig jam
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease an 8-inch square baking pan.

In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add butter and egg yolk, and mix with a pastry blender or your fingers until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Reserve one cup of the crumb mixture and press the remaining crumb mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan.

Spread the fig jam evenly over the crust.

Add chopped walnuts to the reserved crumb mixture, and sprinkle over the jam.

Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until crumb topping is golden brown and filling is bubbly.

Allow to cool completely in pan before cutting into bars and serving.
