How To Make Beef Wellington

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 beef fillet steaks (6 oz each)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 8 slices of prosciutto
  • 1 sheet of puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Season the beef fillet steaks with salt and pepper.

  3. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over high heat. Sear the steaks for 2 minutes on each side. Remove from heat and let them cool down.

  4. Brush each steak with Dijon mustard.

  5. Place 2 slices of prosciutto on top of each steak.

  6. Roll out the puff pastry sheet and cut it into 4 equal squares.

  7. Place each steak on a puff pastry square and fold the pastry over, sealing the edges with egg wash.

  8. Transfer the beef Wellingtons to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  9. Brush the pastry with egg wash.

  10. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and the beef is cooked to your desired level of doneness.

  11. Let the beef Wellingtons rest for a few minutes before serving.
