How To Make Soft Pretzels
Homemade soft pretzels that are perfect for snacking or a party.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 4 cups flour
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- Sea salt, for topping
- 1 egg yolk
Instructions

In a large bowl, combine water, yeast, sugar, and salt.

Let sit for 5 minutes to activate the yeast.

Add flour and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Divide dough into 8 equal pieces and roll each piece into a long rope.

Twist each rope into a pretzel shape.

In a large pot, bring water and baking soda to a boil.

Boil each pretzel for 30 seconds on each side, then remove with a slotted spoon and place on a baking sheet.

Brush each pretzel with the egg yolk and sprinkle with sea salt.

Bake at 450°F for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.

Serve warm with mustard or cheese sauce.
