How To Make Ham Hock & Cabbage Hash

Ingredients
- 1 ham hock, about 2 pounds
- 1 head of cabbage, shredded
- 1 onion, diced
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions

Place the ham hock in a large pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to low. Simmer for 1 hour or until the meat is tender.

Remove the ham hock from the pot and allow it to cool. Shred the meat and discard the bone and excess fat.

In a separate large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened and fragrant.

Add the shredded cabbage, dried thyme, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine.

Cook the cabbage mixture until it is wilted and tender, about 10-15 minutes.

Add the shredded ham hock to the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until everything is heated through.

Serve the ham hock and cabbage hash warm.
