Ingredients

  • 2 medium-sized turnips, peeled and diced
  • 4 medium-sized potatoes, peeled and diced
  • 2 tablespoons of butter
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, add the diced turnips and potatoes. Fill the pot with enough water to cover the vegetables.

  2. Bring the pot to a boil and cook the vegetables until they are fork-tender, about 20 minutes.

  3. Drain the cooked vegetables and return them to the pot.

  4. Add the butter, salt, and pepper to the pot.

  5. Mash the turnips and potatoes together until smooth and well combined.

  6. Serve the neeps and tatties as a side dish or as a main course with your favorite meat or vegetarian gravy.
