How To Make General Tso’s Chicken Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ginger, grated
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces.

  2. In a bowl, toss the chicken pieces with cornstarch until coated.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, honey, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.

  4. Heat vegetable oil in a deep saucepan or wok over medium-high heat.

  5. Fry the chicken pieces in batches until golden brown and crispy. Remove from oil and set aside.

  6. In a separate pan, heat the sauce mixture over medium heat until it thickens.

  7. Add the fried chicken to the sauce and toss to coat evenly.

  8. Serve the General Tso’s chicken over steamed rice and garnish with sliced green onions.
