How To Make Savoury Christmas Shortbread

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, grated cheese, cold butter, salt, black pepper, rosemary, and thyme.

  3. Use your fingers or a pastry cutter to blend the ingredients together until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  4. Form the dough into a ball and place it on a floured surface. Roll out the dough to about 1/4 inch thickness.

  5. Use cookie cutters to cut out shapes from the dough and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown.

  7. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
