  • 1 pre-made pie crust
  • 4 large eggs, separated
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup fresh orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie dish.

  2. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the egg yolks, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and salt until well combined.

  3. Gradually whisk in the orange juice and orange zest until smooth.

  4. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thickened and bubbly.

  5. Remove from heat and pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.

  6. In a mixing bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar on high speed until foamy.

  7. Gradually add the powdered sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.

  8. Spread the meringue over the pie filling, making sure to seal the edges.

  9. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the meringue is golden brown.

  10. Allow the pie to cool completely before serving.
