Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- Gold food coloring
- Edible gold dust
- Edible gold flakes
- Candy canes, mini ornaments, or other festive decorations
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and grease a round cake pan.
-
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
-
In a separate large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
-
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
-
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with buttermilk, beginning and ending with the dry mixture.
-
Stir in a few drops of gold food coloring to achieve the desired color.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
-
Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
Allow the cake to cool completely before removing it from the pan.
-
Once the cake is cooled, prepare the gold drip by mixing edible gold dust with a small amount of water to create a thick paste. Drizzle the gold mixture along the edges of the cake, allowing it to drip down the sides.
-
Decorate the cake with edible gold flakes and any additional festive decorations, such as candy canes or mini ornaments.
-
Slice and serve the Pure Gold Christmas Drip Cake. Enjoy!
