Ingredients

  • 500g boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1-inch piece of ginger, grated
  • 2 tomatoes, diced
  • 2 green chilies, slit lengthwise
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan and add cumin seeds. Let them splutter.

  2. Add onions and cook until golden brown.

  3. Add garlic and ginger, sauté for a minute.

  4. Add tomatoes and cook until they turn mushy.

  5. Stir in turmeric powder, red chili powder and coriander powder.

  6. Add chicken pieces and cook until they are browned.

  7. Add yogurt, green chilies, salt, and garam masala. Mix well.

  8. Cover the pan and cook on low heat for 25-30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and tender.

  9. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves before serving.
