  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Cooking spray
  • for the homemade katsu sauce:
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).

  2. Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper.

  3. Dredge each chicken breast in flour, dip them in beaten eggs, and then coat them with breadcrumbs, pressing firmly to adhere.

  4. Spray the breaded chicken breasts with cooking spray on both sides.

  5. Place the chicken breasts in the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding.

  6. Set the air fryer to cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes, then flip the chicken breasts and cook for an additional 5-8 minutes or until golden brown and crisp.

  7. While the chicken is cooking, prepare the homemade katsu sauce by combining all the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and whisking until well combined.

  8. Serve the air-fried chicken katsu with the homemade katsu sauce on the side.
