Preparation: 20 minutes
Cooking: 15 minutes
Total: 35 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 lb of sausage meat
  • 1/2 cup of breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 tsp of salt
  • 1/4 tsp of black pepper
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with cold water. Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 8 minutes. Drain and let the eggs cool before peeling.

  2. In a bowl, mix the sausage meat, breadcrumbs, salt, and pepper until well combined.

  3. Divide the sausage mixture into 4 portions. Flatten each portion with your hands and wrap it around a peeled boiled egg, ensuring it covers the entire surface.

  4. Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).

  5. Carefully place the wrapped eggs into the hot oil and fry for about 5-6 minutes, until the sausage is cooked through and golden brown. Make sure to turn them occasionally for even cooking.

  6. Remove the Scotch eggs from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  7. Serve the Scotch eggs warm or at room temperature. They can be enjoyed as is or with a side of mustard or dipping sauce.
