Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup pimento-stuffed green olives, sliced
  • 1/4 cup raisins
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • cooked white rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.

  2. Add the diced onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

  3. Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, olives, raisins, cumin, oregano, salt, black pepper, and cinnamon. Simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the chopped cilantro.

  5. Serve the picadillo over cooked white rice.
