How To Make Caraway Rye Bread Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 cups rye flour
  • 1 cup bread flour
  • 2 tbsp caraway seeds
  • 1 tbsp instant yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 cup warm water

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the rye flour, bread flour, caraway seeds, yeast, and salt.

  2. Mix in honey and warm water until a sticky dough forms.

  3. Knead for 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. Place dough in a greased bowl and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.

  5. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

  6. Shape dough into a round loaf and place on a baking sheet.

  7. Slash the top of the loaf with a sharp knife and sprinkle with caraway seeds.

  8. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until a hollow sound is produced when tapped.

  9. Let cool slightly before slicing.
