  • 4 shots of espresso
  • 1 cup of dark rum
  • 2 tablespoons of brown sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 4 cups of hot water
  • Whipped cream (optional, for serving)
  • Ground nutmeg (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the espresso, rum, brown sugar, cinnamon stick, and cloves.

  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat until it comes to a simmer, stirring occasionally.

  3. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.

  4. Remove the saucepan from heat and strain out the spices.

  5. Divide the mixture among 4 mugs.

  6. Top each mug with hot water and stir well to combine.

  7. If desired, garnish with whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground nutmeg.

  8. Serve hot and enjoy!
