Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and diced
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup hazelnuts, chopped
- 1/2 cup mincemeat
- 1 egg, beaten
- Powdered sugar, for dusting
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, butter, and sugar. Rub the mixture together with your fingertips until it resembles breadcrumbs.
-
Stir in the chopped hazelnuts.
-
Gradually add a little cold water at a time to form a dough. Knead the dough gently until smooth.
-
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8 inch thickness. Using a round cookie cutter, cut out circles that will fit into a muffin tin.
-
Line each muffin tin with the pastry, pressing it gently into the corners.
-
Spoon a tablespoon of mincemeat into each pastry case.
-
Use the remaining pastry to create a lattice or crumble topping over the mincemeat.
-
Brush the pastry with beaten egg.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.
-
Remove from the oven and allow to cool completely.
-
Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
