How To Make Basic Cookies

  • 1 cup of softened butter
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • Optional: chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruit for added flavor

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the butter mixture, mixing well after each addition.

  5. If desired, fold in chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruit.

  6. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.

  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

  8. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
