  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Green and red food coloring
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a round cake pan.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk.

  5. Divide the batter into three equal parts. Leave one part plain, color one part green, and color one part red.

  6. Pour the green batter into the prepared cake pan, spreading it out evenly. Top with the plain batter, followed by the red batter.

  7. Use a knife to gently swirl the batter to create a marbled effect.

  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

  10. Once completely cooled, dust with powdered sugar for a festive touch. Slice and serve.
