Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
  2. Add the minced garlic and coconut oil to the bowl, and use your fingers to mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add the warm water, mixing with a spoon until the dough comes together into a ball.
  4. Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for 5 minutes.
  5. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp towel, and let it rest for at least 10 minutes.
  6. Preheat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  7. Divide the dough into 8 equal parts and roll each into a ball.
  8. Use a rolling pin to flatten the dough balls into thin circles, about 1/4 inch thick.
  9. Cook the naan for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the bread is puffy and golden brown.
  10. Sprinkle with chopped cilantro if desired, and serve warm.
