Preparation: 15 minutes
Cooking: 20 minutes
Total: 35 minutes

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the melted butter and milk, and stir until a dough forms.

  3. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough into a rectangle approximately 12×8 inches.

  4. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and cinnamon. Spread the softened butter evenly over the dough, then sprinkle the sugar-cinnamon mixture over the butter.

  5. Starting from the long side, tightly roll up the dough into a log. Cut the log into 1-inch thick slices.

  6. Place the cinnamon bun slices into the prepared baking pan, cut side up. Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.

  7. Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, softened butter, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.

  8. Remove the cinnamon buns from the oven and let them cool slightly. Drizzle the glaze over the warm buns.

  9. Serve the ooey-gooey cinnamon buns warm and enjoy!
