  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  6. Fold in the chopped nuts, if desired.

  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

  8. Bake for 10 minutes, or until lightly golden around the edges.

  9. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
