How To Make Dutch Speculaas Cookies Recipe
Traditional Dutch cookies with a spicy mix of cinnamon and ginger and a crunchy bite.

Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp speculaas spice mix (or mix 1 tsp ground cinnamon, 1/2 tsp ground ginger, 1/4 tsp ground cloves, 1/4 tsp nutmeg)
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 tbsp milk
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, beat butter and brown sugar together until creamy.

Add flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and speculaas spice mix. Mix until you get a crumbly texture.

Add egg yolk and milk, and mix until you get a smooth dough.

Divide the dough into 16 equal portions and shape them into balls.

Flatten the balls to about 1/4 inch thickness and place them on the prepared baking sheet.

Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes or until the edges start to turn golden brown.

Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
