How To Make Red Hots Cinnamon Sugar Cookies

These cookies are sweet, spicy and perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup Red Hots candies, finely crushed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar, for rolling

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F (175C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter and 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. Beat in egg and vanilla extract.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

  5. Gradually mix dry ingredients into creamed mixture.

  6. Mix in crushed Red Hots candies.

  7. Form dough into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter.

  8. Roll balls in remaining sugar until coated.

  9. Place cookies onto prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart.

  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until edges are light golden brown.

  11. Allow cookies to cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
