Serves:
Ingredients
- 4 slices of thick bread (such as brioche or challah)
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1/4 cup of granulated sugar
- 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- 1/4 tsp of salt
- 4 tbsp of unsalted butter, for cooking
- 4 tbsp of brown sugar, for topping
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the bread in a baking dish.
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Pour the custard mixture over the bread, making sure each slice is coated. Let it soak for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through.
-
In a large non-stick skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Cook two slices of soaked bread until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Repeat with the remaining butter and bread.
-
Transfer the cooked French toast to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle each slice with 1 tablespoon of brown sugar.
-
Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the sugar is caramelized and the French toast is set.
-
Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve warm and enjoy!
