How To Make Achiote Paste

Ingredients
- 3 tbsp achiote seeds
- 2 tbsp vinegar
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 cup orange juice
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions

In a dry skillet, toast the achiote seeds over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and let cool.

Grind the toasted achiote seeds into a fine powder using a spice grinder or mortar and pestle.

In a small bowl, combine the ground achiote seeds, vinegar, cumin, garlic powder, oregano, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, orange juice, and vegetable oil. Mix well to form a paste.

Transfer the achiote paste to a jar or airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
