Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup tomato paste
  • 1/4 cup vodka
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • 1 tsp celery salt
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Drain any excess fat.

  2. Add the onion, garlic, and red bell pepper to the skillet. Cook until the vegetables are softened, about 5 minutes.

  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, vodka, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, celery salt, dried oregano, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and let cook for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. Stir in the lemon juice and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

  5. Serve the bolognese sauce over cooked pasta of your choice. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
