A delicious twist on classic thumbprint cookies with a gooey caramel and apple filling.
Serves:
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg yolk
- 1/3 cup caramel sauce
- 1/3 cup diced apples
- Sea salt for garnish
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
In a medium bowl, mix together the flour and softened butter until crumbly. Add in both sugars and the egg yolk and mix until a dough forms.
-
Roll the dough into small balls and place them about 2 inches apart on the baking sheet. Make a small indentation in the center of each cookie with your thumb.
-
Spoon about 1 teaspoon of caramel sauce into each indentation, then top with diced apples and a sprinkle of sea salt.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
