  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup chocolate shavings

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. In a mixing bowl, beat the eggs and sugar until light and fluffy.

  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the egg mixture and fold gently until well combined.

  5. Pour the batter onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly.

  6. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  7. Meanwhile, whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until stiff peaks form.

  8. Once the cake has cooled, carefully remove it from the parchment paper and place it on a clean surface.

  9. Spread the whipped cream evenly over the cake, leaving a small border around the edges.

  10. Gently roll the cake from one end to the other, creating a log shape.

  11. Transfer the log onto a serving platter and use a fork to create a bark-like pattern on the surface.

  12. Sprinkle chocolate shavings on top to resemble tree bark.

  13. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
