This recipe features the famous Southern style collard greens that are slow-cooked with bacon and spices.

Ingredients
- 1 pound collard greens, stems removed, chopped
- 6 slices bacon, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
Instructions

In a large pot, cook bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove bacon and set aside.

Add onion and garlic to the pot, and cook until the onion is translucent.

Add collard greens to the pot and cook for 5 minutes until they start to wilt.

Add chicken broth, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Bring mixture to a boil then reduce the heat to low and simmer for 2 hours.

Stir in apple cider vinegar and cook for an additional 10 minutes.

Serve with the reserved bacon on top.
