How To Make Vegan Fish Sauce

Dried shiitake mushrooms, liquid aminos, and soy sauce are boiled to make a vegan fish sauce that adds umami to your favorite Asian recipes.

  • ¼ oz dried shiitake mushrooms
  • 3 cups water
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp liquid aminos


  1. Place the mushrooms, water, soy sauce and liquid aminos in saucepan and stir to combine.
  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then continue to cook until the liquid has reduced in volume by half.
  3. Allow the sauce to cool, then transfer to a glass jar and cover.
  4. Use as desired. Enjoy!
