How To Make Loaded Meat Sauce

Loaded, flavorful, and versatile, this meat sauce combines ground pork and beef with herbed tomato sauce for a scrumptious dish.

Ingredients

  • 1lblean ground beef
  • 1lblean ground pork
  • 1onion,chopped, divided
  • 4clovesgarlic,minced, divided
  • 1large green bell pepper,chopped
  • 1large red bell pepper,chopped
  • 29oztomato sauce,(4 cans)
  • ozsliced mushrooms,(1 can)
  • 1tbspdried basil leaves,crushed
  • 1tbspdried oregano,crushed
  • 2tbspItalian seasoning
  • 3bay leaves
  • 1tbspred pepper flakes
  • salt and ground black pepper,to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large stock pot over medium heat, brown the ground beef, pork and onion. Drain fat, and return to the heat.

  2. Stir in the garlic, green and red pepper, mushrooms, and tomato sauce. Stir in basil, oregano, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, and red pepper flakes. Salt and pepper to taste.

  3. Bring sauce to a boil. Cover and reduce heat to low. Let simmer for at least 1 hour; preferably all day.

  4. Serve and enjoy.
