No need to head out to the store to get a jar of marinara sauce. With this recipe, you can make your own with the help of a crockpot. You can make enough for your favorite Italian dishes.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato paste
  • 1 medium yellow onion
  • ½ tbsp garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp basil, dried
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • ½ tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 bay leaves
  • salt
  • pepper

Instructions

  1. Dice the onion and mince the garlic and place in the crockpot.
  2. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, brown sugar, balsamic vinegar, bay leaves, basil, oregano, and pepper.
  3. Stir. Cook on low for 8 hours.

  4. Remove the bay leaves and season with salt before serving.
