Beer and Molasses Barbecue Sauce Recipe

This beer and molasses barbecue sauce recipe is great for grilled chicken or spareribs. Create a shiny glaze by brushing the sauce over the meat repeatedly while cooking, about 15 minutes before the meat is done cooking.

How To Make Beer and Molasses Barbecue Sauce

  • 1 ¼ cup chili sauce (bottled)
  • 3/4 cup light molasses (mild-flavored)
  • 3/4 cup beer
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 2 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp Tabasco
  • 1 1/2 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tsp hickory-flavored liquid smoke
  1. Mix all ingredients in a heavy medium-sized saucepan.

  2. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.

  3. Reduce heat and simmer until sauce thickens and is reduced to 2 cups, stirring frequently for about 15 minutes.

  4. Cool completely before using on your meats.
