How To Make Ham and Potato Cheddar Soup

Cheesy and creamy, this cheddar soup is the ultimate comfort soup. It even comes loaded with carrots, potatoes, and ham as well.

  • 2cupspotatoes,peeled and diced
  • 2cupschicken broth
  • ½cupcarrot,sliced
  • ¼cuponion,chopped
  • ¼cupbutter,cubed
  • ¼cupall purpose flour
  • 2cups2% Milk
  • ½tspsalt
  • ¼tsppepper
  • 2cupssharp cheddar cheese,(8 oz), shredded
  • cupsham,cubed cooked
  • 1cupcorn


  1. In a large saucepan, combine the potatoes, chicken broth, carrot and onion. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cover and cook for 10-15 minutes or until potatoes are tender.

  2. Meanwhile, in another saucepan, melt butter. Stir in flour until smooth. Gradually add the milk, salt and pepper. Bring to a boil and cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.

  3. Stir the mixture into the potatoes and chicken broth. Stir in cheese until melted. Add ham and corn. Heat though.
