How To Make Manhattan Clam Chowder Recipe

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bacon, chopped
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, peeled and diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 1 tsp of dried thyme
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 cans of diced tomatoes
  • 2 cups of chicken broth
  • 2 cups of clam juice
  • 2 lbs of chopped clams
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook bacon until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.

  2. In the same pot, add onion, garlic, carrots, celery, thyme, and bay leaf. Cook until vegetables are tender.

  3. Add diced tomatoes, chicken broth, and clam juice. Bring to a boil.

  4. Reduce heat and let simmer for 20 minutes.

  5. Add chopped clams and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

  6. Season with salt and pepper.

  7. Garnish with bacon and parsley.
