How To Make Bacon and Clam Chowder

A thick, creamy soup that’s perfect for any occasion with a smoky bacon flavor and tender clams.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4 slices of bacon, diced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 3 tbsp of all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups of clam juice
  • 2 cups of peeled and diced potatoes
  • 1 cup of half and half
  • 2 cans of chopped clams (6.5 oz each)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, cook bacon over medium heat until crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside, leaving the bacon drippings in the pot.

  2. Add onions and garlic to the pot and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.

  3. Add flour and stir for 2 minutes until fully combined.

  4. Add clam juice and potatoes, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and let simmer for 15-20 minutes until potatoes are cooked and tender.

  5. Add half and half and clams, cook until heated through.

  6. Season with salt and pepper, top with crispy bacon and parsley, and serve.
