How To Make Slow-Cooker Sausage and Peppers

Enjoy a loaded flavorful meal with this slow-cooker sausage made with bell peppers in seasoned tomato sauce, then stuffed in toasted bread rolls.

Ingredients

  • 28ozcrushed tomatoes,(1 can)
  • 1tbspolive oil
  • 1tsporegano,dried
  • pinch of red pepper flakes
  • 1large onion,sliced into half moons
  • 2bell peppers,thinly sliced
  • 1lbItalian sausage
  • kosher salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 1tbspbasil,thinly sliced
  • 6hoagie rolls,toasted

Instructions

  1. Combine crushed tomatoes, oregano, red pepper flakes, and olive oil in the bowl of a slow cooker.

  2. Stir in onion, bell peppers, and Italian sausage. Season with salt and pepper.

  3. Cook on Low for 6 hours.

  4. Stir basil into the cooked sausage and peppers.

  5. Serve warm on toasted hoagie rolls.
