How To Make Cornish Game Hens with Orange Sauce
Slow-cooked Cornish Game Hens ensures juicy and tender meat as the orange sauce infuses in the dish. With that, each bite comes with a citrusy, orange flavor with a hint of tang from the lemon juice. The flavorful dish adds a twist to a classic slow-cooked chicken!
Ingredients
- 4 cornish game hens, rinsed and patted dry
- 8 oz stuffing mix
- 1 cup chicken stock
- 1 orange, large and cut up
- ¼ cup orange juice
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 ½ tsp vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- ¼ tsp orange peel, grated
Instructions

Grab the cornish game hens and sprinkle inside and out with salt and pepper.
- Prepare stuffing mix according to package directions.

Spoon into hens and truss.

In a slow cooker, arrange hens on a rack. If the slow cooker is small, place hens by neck ends down.

Combine the chicken stock, orange slices, orange zest, orange juice, vegetable oil, honey, and lemon juice in a bowl.

Baste hens with some of the sauce and pour the remaining mixture in the pot.

Cover and cook on low for 5 to 7 hours. Baste hens once or twice during cooking.
