Hearty and healthy, try this Filipino bottle gourd recipe for a delicious bite! It's made with ground pork, shrimp, and beef broth.

Ingredients

  • 1 small bottle gourd, (upo) peeled and sliced
  • 8 oz ground pork
  • 15 shrimp, shell and head removed
  • 1 medium ripe tomato, cubed
  • 1 medium onion, cubed
  • 5 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 3⁄4 cup beef broth, or chicken broth
  • 3 tbsp cooking oil
  • salt and ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan.
  2. Saute garlic, onion, and tomato.
  3. Once the texture of the tomato and onion becomes soft, add the ground pork. Cook until light brown.
  4. Add the sliced bottle gourd. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes while stirring.
  5. Pour the beef broth into the pan. Let the liquid boil. Cover and cook for 10 minutes.

  6. Add shrimp. Cook for 3 to 5 minutes.
  7. Season with salt and ground black pepper.
  8. Transfer to a serving bowl.
  9. Serve. Share and enjoy!
