Spicy Chicken Sausage Fusilli with Tomato Recipe

How To Make Spicy Chicken Sausage Fusilli with Tomato

Sink your teeth into these tender chicken sausage fusilli, packed with juicy tomatoes, and sweet-smooth ricotta, for a comforting dinner meal!

  • 1tbspolive oil
  • 1lbhot chicken sausages
  • 1onion
  • 2garlic cloves
  • ¼cupdry white wine
  • cupstomatoes in thick puree,canned, crushed
  • ¼cupwater
  • ¼tspdried rosemary
  • pinchred pepper flakes,dried
  • ½tspsalt
  • 3tbspflat leaf parsley,chopped
  • ½lbfusilli
  • ¾cupricotta cheese


  1. In a large, deep frying pan, heat the oil over moderate heat. Add the sausage and cook, turning, for about 10 minutes, until browned and cooked through.

  2. Remove the sausage and, when it is cool enough to handle, cut it into ¼-inch slices.

  3. Pour off all but 1 tablespoon fat from the pan. Reduce the heat to moderately low.

  4. Add the onion to the pan and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 5 minutes, until translucent. Add the garlic and cook for 30 seconds longer.

  5. Add the wine and bring to a simmer. Add the sausage, tomatoes, water, rosemary, red-pepper flakes, and ¼ teaspoon of the salt and bring to a simmer.

  6. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes. Stir in the parsley.

  7. In a large pot of boiling, salted water, cook the fusilli for about 13 minutes, until just done. Drain and toss with the sauce, the ricotta, and the remaining ¼ teaspoon of salt.

  8. Serve warm, and enjoy!
