Pasta with Creamy Vodka Sauce Recipe

This Italian dish is hearty and full of flavor. Sprinkle with parmesan and serve with a fresh Mediterranean salad on the side.

By adding vodka to the sauce, it gives it a more intense flavor that blends with the pasta. You get a nice cheesy and creamy texture with each bite.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ lb penne pasta
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ cup vodka
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • 48 oz tomatoes, crushed
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ tsp red pepper, crushed
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • ½ cup Romano cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Sautee onion and garlic in olive oil until brown, about 5 minutes.
  2. Add tomatoes, crushed red pepper and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes.
  3. Add heavy cream and vodka and cook for 5 more minutes until sauce thickens.
  4. Meanwhile, in a separate pot, boil Penne pasta until it is al dente and drain.
  5. Place pasta on individual plates and top with tomato-vodka sauce and serve.
