Chicken and Lobster Mac and Cheese Recipe

Baked mac and cheese with bread crumbs is always delicious but this recipe is even better because it includes some meat and shellfish. Try this unique surf and turf dish for your next family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb macaroni
  • 1 ½ lb lobster meat, cooked
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breast , halves
  • 1 quart milk
  • ½ cup flour
  • 4 cups cheese, grated
  • 1 ½ cups bread crumbs
  • 8 tbsp butter
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • ½ tsp nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.

To cook the macaroni:

  1. Boil salted water in a large pot.

  2. Add the macaroni and cook for 8 minutes.

  3. Rinse, drain, and set aside.

To make the cheese sauce:

  1. Heat the milk in a saucepan without boiling it.
  2. Melt 6 tablespoons of the butter in the large pot and add the flour.
  3. Cook over low heat and stir with a whisk for 2 minutes.
  4. Add the warm milk and continue to whisk, cooking an additional minute.
  5. Remove from the heat and add the cheese, the pepper and nutmeg.

To prepare the meat and shellfish:

  1. Cut the chicken into cubes and cook in a large skillet over medium heat for 6 minutes.
  2. Do the same process with the lobster meat.

Assemble and bake:

  1. Add the chicken, lobster, and macaroni to the milk mixture and combine well.
  2. Transfer to a baking dish.
  3. Melt the remaining butter and combine with breadcrumbs.
  4. Sprinkle breadcrumbs over the baking dish and bake for 35 minutes.
