How To Make Pan Haggerty

This British potato bake or pan haggerty dish contains layers of cheesy baked potatoes for a filling side dish. Whip this up with just five ingredients!

Ingredients

  • 3tbspvegetable oil
  • lbpotatoes,peeled and sliced thin
  • 1medium onion,quartered and sliced thin
  • 5ozcheddar cheese,grated
  • salt and pepper,to taste

Instructions

  1. Pour the oil in a 12-inch, oven-proof skillet.

  2. Arrange an even layer of potatoes to cover the bottom of the pan, slightly overlapping the slices. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and a layer of onions and cheese. Repeat with 2 more layers ending with potatoes. Top with salt and pepper.

  3. Cover the pan with a lid or foil and cook on the stovetop over medium heat for 30 minutes.

  4. Preheat the broiler, then broil until the top is browned.

  5. Serve and enjoy.
