German Roll Ups Recipe

This has got to be my absolute favorite dish. It is so special that I have it as my birthday dinner every year.


How To Make German Beef Roll-Ups

Tenderized steak rolled with bacon baked with seasoned gravy

Prep: 10 mins
Cook: 20 mins
Total: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 8 flat steaks, thin enough to be rolled
  • 2 fresh onions, chopped
  • salt and pepper , to taste
  • 1 lb bacon, may substitute turkey bacon
  • 2 cans beef gravy, may substitute homemade if desired

Instructions

  1. Pound out flat steaks with a meat tenderizer to thinness of approximately ¼ inch.

  2. Salt and pepper to taste on both sides.
  3. Fry up bacon and onion in a 10-inch skillet. Remove bacon and drain.

  4. Place a portion of bacon and fried onion onto each flat steak.
  5. Roll and tie beef together at either end and in the middle with kitchen string.
  6. Arrange these rolls into a baking pan.
  7. Cover with beef gravy, but do not immerse the beef rolls entirely.
  8. Cover with foil and bake in an oven at 350 degrees F for 20 minutes.
