How To Make Copycat Panda Express Black Pepper Chicken

This copycat black pepper chicken from Panda Express is marinated in ginger and soy sauce resulting in a tender and savory dish with black pepper sauce.

Ingredients

  • 1lbchicken breast
  • 2celery stalks
  • ½mediumwhite onion ,chopped
  • ¼cupsoy sauce,divided
  • ¼tspginger powder
  • 1tbspchili vinegar
  • tbspblack pepper,coarse ground
  • 2tbspcorn starch
  • 4tbspcanola oil ,divided

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken into 1-inch bites, and marinade with 2 tablespoons of the soy sauce, ½ tablespoon of the chili vinegar, cornstarch, and the ground ginger for 30 minutes.

  2. Using 2 tablespoons of canola oil, heat a wok on high.

  3. Add the chicken when the oil is hot. Cook on high heat until browned.

  4. Remove from the pan and add in the celery and onions with the remaining 2 tablespoons of canola oil.

  5. Cook the veggies on high for 30 to 45 seconds.

  6. Add in the remaining 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, the remaining ½ tablespoon of chili vinegar, the cooked chicken, and black pepper.

  7. Cook for 15 seconds to combine everything and and serve immediately.
