How To Make Collard Greens

This collard greens recipe is a southern-inspired dish made with collard greens that are pan-fried to perfection and tossed with flavorful spices and bacon.

  • 1tbspbutter
  • 8bacon slices,chopped
  • 1onion,finely diced, small
  • 1lbcollard greens
  • 2garlic cloves
  • cupschicken broth
  • Salt and pepper ,to taste


  1. Wash greens and using a sharp knife, cut out the woody stem. Cut into ¾ pieces.

  2. Cook chopped bacon and butter over medium heat in a pan until crisp. Remove a few slices for garnish.

  3. Add onions to bacon grease and cook until softened for about 3 minutes.

  4. Add greens and garlic. Cook until slightly wilted for about 3 to 4 minutes.

  5. Add broth, cover, and cook over a low simmer for 35 to 40 minutes or until tender.

  6. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
