How To Make Blackened Tilapia

In under 15 minutes, you can have tender and well-seasoned blackened tilapia! It’s pan-fried for a crispy exterior and served with lemon for added tang.

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 4tilapia fillets,or other white fish
  • 1lemon,sliced
  • 1tbspcanola oil
  • 2tbspbutter

For Blackened Seasoning:

  • ¾tspgarlic powder
  • ½tspsalt
  • ½tsppepper
  • tsppaprika
  • 1tsporegano
  • ½tspground cumin
  • tspbrown sugar

Instructions

  1. Combine the garlic powder, salt, pepper, paprika, oregano, cumin, and brown sugar in a small bowl.

  2. Rub the seasoning over the fish.

  3. Heat the oil and butter in a cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat.

  4. Add the seasoned fish and a few of the lemon slices, then cook for 3 minutes per side or just until done. Do not overcook.

  5. Serve with the remaining lemon, and enjoy!
