How To Make Classic Southern Fried Okra

Enjoy a serving of this golden brown fried okra, coated in corn meal for a crispier crunch on the outside, and soft and gooey bite on the inside dish!

Ingredients

  • 10okra pods,sliced into ¼-inch pieces
  • 1egg,beaten
  • 1cupcornmeal
  • ¼tspsalt
  • ¼tspground black pepper
  • ½cupvegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, soak the okra in the egg for about 5 to 10 minutes.

  2. In a medium bowl, combine the cornmeal, salt, and pepper.

  3. Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  4. Dredge the okra in the cornmeal mixture, coating evenly.

  5. Carefully place the okra in the hot oil and stir continuously. Reduce the heat to medium when the okra first starts to brown, and cook until golden. Drain on paper towels.

  6. Serve warm, and enjoy!
