How To Make Cheesy Chicken Broccoli and Rice Casserole

Whip up one-pan meal with this rich chicken broccoli casserole, loaded with tender chicken bites, filling rice, and baked in a buttery cracker mixture!

  • 4tbspunsalted butter
  • 4tbspall-purpose flour
  • 3cupswhole milk
  • 8ozsharp cheddar cheese,chopped
  • salt and pepper,to taste
  • 4cupschicken,(2-3 chicken breasts), cubed, cooked
  • 4cupsbroccoli florets,cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 3cupsrice,cooked
  • 4tbspunsalted butter,melted
  • 2cupsbuttery crackers,crushed


  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Add the butter to a large oven safe pan, then whisk in the flour when melted.

  3. Once the flour is completely mixed with the butter, pour in the milk slowly and whisk. Let reduce on medium heat for about 2 to 3 minutes until the milk is slightly thickened.

  4. While the milk is reducing, add the crushed buttery crackers to the melted butter in a small bowl. Add in the cheese, salt, and pepper, then whisk until fully combined.

  5. Turn off the heat and stir in the rice, broccoli, and chicken. Top with the buttery cracker mixture.

  6. Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes.

  7. Serve warm, and enjoy!
