How To Make Old-Fashioned Barbecue Spareribs
An incredibly easy recipe for barbecue spareribs which ensures you succulent spareribs every time! Take out the guess work with pre-cooking your ribs through boiling and tender, then letting the marinade work its magic. By the time it need to be placed on the grill, it's just simply getting a wonderful crust on the outside of the meat.
Ingredients
- 5 lb spareribs
For the Sauce:
- ¾ cup brown sugar, firmly packed
- 1 ½ tsp dry mustard
- 2 tsp salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 1 tsp ginger
- 8 oz tomato sauce
- 1 cup orange juice
- 2 tbsp onions, minced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 3 tbsp parsley
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- To make sauce, mix all ingredients together in a large saucepan and heat for 10 minutes, stirring constantly.
- Set aside.

To make ribs, boil in a large pot in salted water to cover; simmer slowly for 46 to 60 minutes or until meat is a gray color and begins to pull away from bones.
- Remove from pot, drain and marinate in this special sauce for about 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.

Cook on grill, basting with marinade while grilling.
- Remove ribs to platter and let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
